Scatter Diagrams
A Scatter Diagram is used to study the possible relationship between one variable (e.g. height of 15 year old boys) and another (their weight). In particular, it is used to analyse the relationship between possible causes and effects.
- Correlation is the word used to describe how strong the
relationship is.
- Line of Best Fit Having drawn a scatter diagram it is usual to draw a line of best fit through the points, particularly where there is a strong correlation.
